SautiCast 2
Privacy policy
This policy describes how Onawa Systems Africa LTD (“we”, “us”) processes personal data when you use the SautiCast 2 website, players, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “service”).
Last updated: March 2026. If you disagree with this policy, please do not use the service.
Data we may collect
- Account & application data: usernames, email addresses, names, phone numbers, country, station descriptions, and materials you upload (for example station cover images) when you register, apply for a station, or use DJ / admin features.
- Technical & usage data: IP addresses, device and browser signals, approximate timestamps, cookies or similar technologies needed for sessions, security, and reliability.
- Operational & support logs: server and application diagnostics that may include identifiers needed to troubleshoot streams, metadata delivery, and abuse prevention.
- Takedown & compliance requests: information you submit through our Copyright / Takedown form, including contact details and descriptions of the concern, so we can review and respond.
Why we use data
We process personal data to:
- Provide, secure, and improve the service (authentication, streaming, metadata, dashboards, notifications).
- Review station applications, operate admin workflows, and communicate about your account or requests.
- Detect, investigate, and mitigate abuse, fraud, or unlawful activity affecting the platform or listeners.
- Comply with law, regulators, or enforceable rights requests where required.
- Send operational email (for example activation, password reset, or takedown tracking) where applicable.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with service providers who help us run the platform (for example hosting, email delivery), when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public. Where those parties act on our behalf, we expect them to handle data only for the purposes we define and with appropriate safeguards.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above—for example while your account is active, to meet legal or dispute requirements, or to analyse aggregated, non-identifying usage. Some records may be held longer where the law requires or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure; we encourage strong passwords and careful handling of credentials.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal data, or to object to particular uses. To exercise those rights, contact us using the details we provide for support or legal enquiries. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
International transfers
Our infrastructure or subprocessors may be located outside your country. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we take steps consistent with applicable law for that transfer.
Third-party media & metadata APIs
Some features enrich the listening experience with album artwork, lyrics, songwriter credits, or artist images. To do this, our servers may call public music-data APIs and send artist and/or track names (and occasionally other non-identifying matching hints, such as track duration for lyrics matching). We do not pass your account identity or email to these providers solely for enrichment unless a specific integration explicitly requires it and we describe that separately.
Providers we use (sources may change as we maintain the service):
- Album cover art: Apple iTunes Search API (search.itunes.apple.com); MusicBrainz (musicbrainz.org metadata search); Cover Art Archive (coverartarchive.org), used together with MusicBrainz release identifiers when needed.
- Lyrics & credits: LRCLIB (lrclib.net); lyrics.ovh (api.lyrics.ovh); community lyrics API at lyricsapi.vercel.app as a fallback; and MusicBrainz for optional songwriter / credit lookups where we fetch that data.
- Artist photos (e.g. charts or promotional displays): Deezer API (api.deezer.com — catalogue artist images); TheAudioDB (theaudiodb.com — artist thumbnails and related artwork). Images are catalogue / promotional assets from those providers; they may not always be a literal studio headshot, and rightholder and provider terms apply.
Requests from your browser to third-party CDNs to display an image or load lyrics may be directed by us via returned URLs; those requests are governed by the relevant provider’s policies and your network.
